Challenges in combating corruption in Malaysia: issues of leadership, culture and money politics

Purpose The aim of the paper is to analyse prevalence corruption in Malaysia since 2004 relation political leadership, implementation anti-corruption measures and business culture based on money politics. Design/methodology/approach draws from information data provided by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, government, international organisations, media reports, academic papers. Findings analyses perceived extent examining how successive governments have dealt with problem through a wide range measures. Corruption remains widespread because ineffective implementation, politics mutually beneficial crony associations between actors leaders, interference frustrate enforcement against offenders, especially prominent personalities, mixed impact prevention concludes that nature leadership eroded will combat grand Malaysia. Originality/value This builds previous research highlights combined negative tolerates espouses corruption, politics, consequent weak for tackling corruption.
